The brutal summer ahead

This summer is going to be a true test of patience. I was finally able to get a hold of a doctor at the endocrinologist's office since our doctor has been on vacation. I described Kyra's symptoms and she agreed Kyra is showing signs of HYPERthyroidism. She reduced the dosage of her medication, but said we'd essentially have to ride out the symptoms through the summer. It's been a month now, and half Kyra's hair is gone. She's not napping and falling asleep at dinner. Last night, I had to put her to bed at 6:15. At midnight she woke up, and after that every two hours, including at 4am because she was starving. I spoon fed her yogurt in the dark because I didn't want her up for the day. She managed to fall back asleep until 6:45. Thankfully, I was off work today, but how can we do this during the week? It's like having a newborn again, which I have NOT signed up for.

I can't wait for our doctor to return from vacation. I need to understand why he didn't ease her onto the dosage. She went from being extremely hypothyroid to within the normal range in such a short time that her body is still trying to catch up.

For the most part, she doesn't seem to be bothered by anything. I guess I should be thankful for that.
